The forklift story is interesting. It’s, I think, another example of the incredible benefits that come with improvements in distribution. Instead of many warehouses with many forklifts, there’s good ways to consolidate the warehouse, and still be able to get things where they need to go quickly.
I’m thinking back to running a corporate IT department twenty years ago. There was a burst pipe that took out a workspace for about 50 people. We had to scramble to find a company within about 100 miles who could provide about 40 rather generic PCs.
