The SRO bit is interesting. You do mention the regulatory hurdles, which are, IMO, the biggest problem in housing. I would like my own toilet where I sleep, but I’d probably be okay headed down the hall for a shower….
See, I didn’t do that. I had an apartment for a bit as an undergrad halfway between the campus and work. My parents’ place was another 25 minutes to the NE. But I was working overnights, and figured out it was going to take me forever to graduate. So….home, cut the radio to four days a week instead of six.
When my wife tried to get into my alma mater, they d changed into a school for younger people living on campus.
