Canada did away with the penny years ago. We should do likewise. As well, it would be much more prudent (not to mention cost-effective) to get rid of the dollar bill and replace it permanently with a dollar coin, but people here are regrettably unwilling to adapt.
I’m mostly all for going electric, and I adore my electric car (so fast!), but I spend a lot of time on the water in a wind powered boat, and I am terrified by the idea that the same yahoos who try to run us down now could potentially do so faster, and quietly.
Not sure I totally agree w/ Ian. Currency is still going to be subdivided….however. I would like to see a situation where a given amount of a currency has the same good purchasing-power year-to-year. Yes, I miss being able to buy a can of Coke for 40 cents. (Yes, if I had a lawn, I’d be imploring you to get off of it…..)
The bit about Elon’s Twitter buy speaks to the same things, really. That the valuation of X is lower than at purchase is noted, but what’s been the drop in operating costs? He kinda touched on that w/ the CEO personal aide who took a planned vacation right after Elon bought the company. He figured out how to do most of the things she was doing himself. After realizing he didn’t need her to run the company, he laid her off when she returned from vacation. Is Twi^H^H^HX less valuable because she’s not there? In his interview w/ Trump, he touched on that some. There _cant_ be a Federal Workforce that shrinks, right? (So says the guy married to one….)
Lastly, I’d be much happier with farmed tilapia than bugs. Sorry, WEF.
