As a late GenXer former radio guy, I will state my appreciation of "Hey Mickey!" Great bump for talk radio, and, if memory serves enough time to talk up w/ an ad. But, along those lines, the singles were really important when you were actually spinning records. Program Director on you to get in your twelve-songs-an-hour? Those three-minute tracks really helped. The corporally? The BM tracks that'd give you enough time to do your business. Then there was pretty much anything by Mark Knopfler, which would give you time to go to the store, buy some smokes, and dinner.

On the generational thing, I showed my mid-millennial future wife how to cue both a 45 and a 33 for proper start on the air. She wasn't impressed.

Really sad that I went back and listened to the beginning of "Heya Mickey!" Yeah, there's the cheerleading into, but there's about a :20 space where you can throw in a quick plug for something the stations' got going on, time, temperature, etc.
