"why we find superheroes and action movies so compelling"
What about people who find them annoying? Especially adults into superheroes... nothing more cringe-inducing that watching adults talk about superheroes with zero self-awareness to the fact that they're effectively religious zealots with some shiny IP. Gross.
Neat. I never got the attraction to superheroes.. even as a kid, I think the closest I ever got to being into them was the X-Men arcade game back in the early/mid 90s. I knew about all of it, but didn't really care much outside that game. That total normies in 2023 are talking about the "MCU" as if it's just a thing is.... weird. But kinda makes sense at the same time. Still a little unsettling.. I guess it's just a matter of waiting until they've completely milked 20th century culture.. which is probably going to take longer than I'd like.
Yeah a lot of it isn't the surface-level "why we find superheroes so compelling!!" but rather **why** do people find them so intriguing and what that says about us.
Can't wait to start going through it and, of course, to REALLY start nagging you to do a book signing in my area!
